For readers who love buying books but want spending under control, this calculator shows how many books fit in your monthly budget and what that adds up to over a year. It answers the simple question of how much you can spend guilt-free, and helps you decide between more cheaper titles or a few pricier ones.
You enter your monthly book budget and the average price you usually pay per copy. The tool divides one by the other and rounds down, since you cannot buy half a book, to show how many whole books fit each month. Separately, it multiplies the monthly budget by 12 to display the yearly equivalent. If the average price is zero, the book count shown is zero, and negative values are treated as zero.
With a budget of 120 a month and an average price of 45 per book, the math is 120 ÷ 45 = 2.67, which rounds down to 2 books a month. The yearly equivalent is 120 × 12 = 1,440. Notice that 30 is left over each month, which you could pool to afford a third book now and then.
The calculation uses the average price you entered, so sales, shipping and much pricier or cheaper books will change the real outcome. It does not account for used bookstores, libraries, subscriptions or leftover money carried from one month to the next.
