Once a week: 5 things worth your time.
1 story, 1 idea, 1 discovery, 1 tool, 1 book.
Not every worry today deserves the weight you're giving it — use this simple filter.
Write freely, don't worry about how it sounds.
Will this matter in 5 years?
It's usually easier to see clearly when we think about someone else's problem.
This is a personal reflection exercise — nothing is saved or sent anywhere.
The five-year rule is a simple filter for worries: you write down what is weighing on you and answer whether it will still matter five years from now. It suits anyone replaying a mistake, an argument or a tight deadline who wants perspective back before spending more emotional energy.
There is no calculation. You write the worry in a free text box, answer yes, no or not sure to whether it will matter in five years, and can jot down what you would tell a friend in the same spot. Based on your answer, the tool shows one of three reframing texts: one for yes, one for no and one for not sure. What you write is not saved or sent.
You write: I got a number wrong in today's presentation. Asked whether it will matter in five years, you answer no. The tool shows a text suggesting you ease the emotional weight you are giving the episode. If you answer yes, the text suggests handling it well now and checking whether the worry is the right size.
This is a reflection exercise, not therapy or counseling. There are only three possible answers, so the tool simplifies. Serious problems involving health, safety or money deserve real attention and proper help, whether or not they seem likely to matter in five years.
