Your pile's projection
At this pace, your unread pile will only keep growing
This is a simple projection with a constant pace — heavier reading months or impulse buys will change the real result.
If your to-be-read pile only ever seems to grow, this tracker shows what is really going on. It compares how many books you read with how many you buy each month and tells you whether your unread stack, the famous TBR, is shrinking or growing, and how long it would take to clear. It suits habitual book buyers and planners alike.
You enter three numbers: how many unread books you currently own, how many you read per month and how many you buy per month. The tool works out the monthly change, which is books bought minus books read. If that change is negative, the pile shrinks and the time to clear it is the unread total divided by the rate of decline. If it is zero or positive, the pile never clears and the tool warns that it will only grow.
Say you own 40 unread books, read 4 a month and buy 2. The change is 2 − 4 = −2, so the pile drops by 2 each month and clears in 40 ÷ 2 = 20 months. If you read 3 and bought 5, the change would be +2 and the pile would keep growing at that pace, never running out.
This is a simple projection at a constant rate. Heavy reading months, vacations, gifts or impulse buys will change the real result. It does not separate books you may never read and does not account for free e-books or loans.
