Settles the moment of splitting the restaurant, trip or party bill. Enter the bill total, the number of people and the tip percentage, and see what each person pays with and without the tip, plus the final total, with no mental math at the table.
The bill total is multiplied by one plus the tip percentage divided by 100, which gives the total with tip. That total and the original amount are each divided evenly by the number of people, giving the per-person amount with and without the tip. If the number of people is fractional or zero, the tool uses the whole number, with a minimum of one.
The bill comes to 240, with 4 people and a 10% tip. The total with tip is 264. Each person pays 66 with the tip, or 60 without it. If a fifth friend joins and the split goes to 5 people, the share with tip drops to 52.80.
It splits everything equally and does not adjust for uneven orders, drinks or individual items; in that case, settle separately. The tip applies to the total entered, and customs vary by country.
