Monthly cost
$83
Annual cost
$990
This calculation covers fuel only — it doesn't include maintenance, vehicle wear, parking, or tolls.
For people who drive to work and want to know how much the trip weighs on their wallet. The tool turns distance, fuel price, car efficiency and workdays into a monthly and yearly cost, useful when weighing a move, a carpool or a remote-work offer.
You enter the one-way distance to work, the price per liter, your car's efficiency in km per liter and the workdays per month. The tool doubles the distance for the round trip, divides by efficiency to get liters per day, then multiplies by the price and the days in the month. The annual cost is the monthly figure times 12.
Work is 15 km from home, gasoline is 6.00 per liter, the car does 12 km per liter and there are 22 workdays a month. The round trip is 30 km, or 2.5 liters a day, costing 15. That is 330 a month and 3,960 a year in fuel alone.
It counts fuel only: no maintenance, wear, parking, tolls, insurance or depreciation, and it assumes steady consumption with no heavy traffic. The true cost of owning a car is usually higher.
