Plan the budget for a party, birthday or team celebration by splitting what you have across up to five categories such as catering, decor or music. The tool adds up everything you estimated and shows right away whether there is money left or the plan has already broken the limit.
First enter the total budget available. Then name up to five categories and type the planned amount for each. The tool adds the amounts to get the total planned and subtracts that from your budget. A positive result shows what is left over; a negative one shows how far you went over the limit. Category names are free-form and only help you stay organized; the math uses only the amounts you type.
A $3,000 budget with four categories: catering $1,200, drinks $800, decor $500 and music $400. Total planned is $2,900, leaving $100. If music rose to $700, the plan would total $3,200 and run $200 over budget. The result flips to an over-budget figure.
This is a plain sum of amounts you estimated yourself, with no price changes, fees or surprises built in. It is wise to keep a cushion outside the categories, since event budgets rarely land exactly as planned.
