How it works

The math has two steps. First it multiplies the number of active subscriptions by the average monthly cost to get the monthly total. Then it multiplies that by 12 for the annual amount. Negative inputs are treated as zero. Because it uses an average, it does not tell cheap from expensive subscriptions; to see each one separately, use the subscription comparator.

Worked example

With the starting values, 6 active subscriptions at a $12 average, the monthly total is $72 (6 x 12). Over a year that is $864 (72 x 12). If you cancel two you barely use, you drop to 4 subscriptions and the total falls to $48 a month, or $576 a year.
