Once a week: 5 things worth your time.
1 story, 1 idea, 1 discovery, 1 tool, 1 book.
Expected idea count
30
A rough planning estimate — actual output depends heavily on facilitation and group dynamics.
A planner that estimates how many ideas a brainstorming session could produce, based on the number of participants, the duration and the expected pace per person. It suits facilitators, team leads and teachers who need to size the time and the group before calling the meeting.
You enter three numbers: participants, duration in minutes and ideas per person per minute. The tool multiplies all three to get the expected total of ideas. Negative results become zero. The calculation assumes a constant pace and equal contribution from everyone, so the per-person pace is the most important input and the one that needs the most common sense. Change one input at a time to compare scenarios.
With 6 participants, 20 minutes and 0.5 ideas per person per minute, the result is 6 x 20 x 0.5 = 60 expected ideas. Cut to 4 people in the same time and the total drops to 40. Extending the session to 30 minutes with 6 people gives 90, although the real pace usually falls as people tire.
This is a planning estimate with a constant pace, which rarely holds in practice. Real results depend on facilitation, the topic and group dynamics. A high idea count does not guarantee quality.
